Hard work and true talent, inspiration, is rarely pushed to the forefront. It’s the business of art, and like any other business in a capitalist world, the rich get richer - Natalia Yanchak, The Dears

As I continue my search for an errant audio file, I have stumbled upon many artifacts — including this live recording of “We Can Have It” from a show we did in Paris in 2005. I found the mp3 on my Tangerine iBook, which I haven’t turned on in nearly a decade, but that still works perfectly! This was the only mp3 I had in that computer’s iTunes. Enjoy it. ♥ Natalia
Yeah, we’ll be there. We hit the stage at 1AM at the ElMocambo, but come earlier to enjoy some of Quebec’s finest.
Find tix through Ticketmaster or through this schlub who thinks you are an idiot and would pay more than double (not recommended).
See you there! ♥ Natalia

FROM a-newer-me:
The Dears - Lights Off
I’ve been trying not to write much when I do an audio post, because despite having a degree in music most people don’t want to hear me talk about music (maybe I talked too much about it while in college?)… So I won’t go on as long as I might like to about this song. A few years ago a friend of a friend introduced me to The Dears, and I enjoyed a whole summer of discovering more great new music by them and some of the other bands I was introduced to. This one slipped through somehow? Anyway, for the past couple years I haven’t been listening to music for pleasure (story for another day), so I kind of forgot about them. I found this song while browsing through some Gossip Girl vids on Youtube, because apparently it was in an episode that I never noticed. Anyway, it got me to dig up some of my old music and I have been listening to all of my music all day long since then.
I’m going to go ahead and say this song helped me like music again, and you should listen to it.

Portal to Yesteryear
(A short poem by M. A. L.)
Quiet
sometimes
It is nice
Time
we know what she does
And she does
Taking her sweet sweet time
Tonight
Walking out
On our own
two left feet
In no time flat
What is that?
Right
those are greys
Not hairs
Areas
Known it all
too well
Found limits
Found pause
Takes time
First single from Krief’s album ‘Hundred Thousand Pieces’ / Coming spring 2012 on Pirate’s Blend Records / Buy Simple Lives on iTunes.
