Harsh Mistress

From The R3-30 Fun Club (That’s Canadian for Web Radio): The Dears have this week’s highest debut. We asked Murray of the band about his musical guilty pleasures. We couldn’t fit the whole call into the show, but here you can listen to Murray belting out “Firework” by Katy Perry.
Join author Lorraine Carpenter for the Ottawa book launch of “Lost In The Plot.” The story of us, part one, more or less.
Jazz Festival concert Thursday night at Club Soda, Montreal. At 11PM, it is a late show that stretches its legs a fair bit. The set we’ve put together covers a lot of ground with every album being represented with our faves and hopefully yours. See you then.

No, it’s not a mashup: it’s a riff-off. Twitter user @aprilpromise beamed this message to us from across the Twitterverse. A full range of thoughts passed over me, since there is some similarity between the, uh, notes of the guitar solo of Galactic Tides and this Korean pop song from the 90’s. I’ve added cued up video links below. This is a phenomenon I just cannot explain. None of us have ever heard of 늪 — 조관우, the artist (whom @aprilpromise refers to as “Slough”) or the song, but clearly they exist, and have the power of alto saxophone AND full symphonic accompaniment.

I’ve added a handful of videos to our youtube page. A somewhat curated collection of what is on the ‘net (with that girl from the bus)*. Happy weekend, happy father’s day, happy every day. ♥ Natalia
